Mary’s studio

Commission  2014

Hand made personal garden studio, designed to suit very specific needs, whilst taking account of its immediate environment and surrounding architecture. A predominantly timber construction, therefore slightly elevated above the ground to facilitate good air flow under the building, fully insulated with plenty of natural light through an arrangement of different double glazed windows, including an opening roof window to provide plenty of ventilation during the summer and the North elevation is two thirds glass. It is made with a breathable wall system, clad on the outside with locally sourced Western Red cedar. Its character is enhanced by double opening doors, each supporting a kite shaped window, to enhance its humanity, as does the wide larch step up onto the small verandah, all under natural slate roof.

A place for the soul.
